House Karness Muur Quaestor Report #7

Introduction

Last month we received some unappealing news with the delay of GJW XII. At that time, the top of the summit was thinking about something to tie us over while the Dark Council finishes cooking the main course. To make up for the disappointment, the Clan’s fearless leader has decided to bring back a past theme for our next Clan event.

News and Events

Thanks to the amazing efforts of Drac and Teylas, our placeholder event for Great Jedi War XII arrived sooner than expected. I give you the 2017 Clan Plagueis Pro Bowl. Joining us this year are our friends in Clan Taldryan providing us with the cross-summit teams Selaris and Abalance. You can find out which team you’re on here. We’re wrapping up the prologue week’s puzzle (which you still have a couple of hours to do). The first week of the actual event starts as soon as the puzzle ends so get out there and show Tally how the Ascendant Clan handles an event.

  • The tenth Combat Master report brings us results from the Winds of Change ACC event for GJW XII.
  • Clan Scholae Palatinae’s long running Consul Xen’Mordin has stepped down after an impressive six and a half years of leading the unit. Congratulate him on his years of service and new Amethyst Kukri here. Applications for his replacement just ended a couple of days ago so we should be seeing a new Consul in CSP soon.
  • The latest [Voice report] provides some initial details on the Brotherhood’s new headquarters, the Arx system. With the new planet comes Art4Arx, a series of competitions to create artwork of the new content.
  • Since my last report, Drac has released Fist Report #11 along with supplementals about the new DJB Voice Server, Heroes of the Storm and JA changes, and updates to the ROC. Additionally, this month’s Gaming Update can be found here.

Quaestor’s Words

I write these reports for two main reasons. First, I am obligated to as Quaestor of House Karness Muur. I’ll admit that without this obligation, I probably wouldn’t write these for anything short of an event (which there is right now so go do those comps) and that’s iffy. Second, I want the Clan to improve and making reports gives me a good way to spread general advice. Advice that I find many of you have been ignoring entirely. The Combat Master’s report didn’t just tell us the winners of the ACC preliminaries, it also told us how many participants there were in each unit. Clan Plagueis had twelve participants which means that most of you didn’t follow my advice. You just had to complete one ACC match and there were plenty of matches available. This did count for a Seal so I say to the dozen individuals that participated, congratulations, you have one more token of this Great Jedi War than the rest. To those that didn’t, you better get it in gear when the real event shows up. You’re already behind and the War hasn’t even started yet.

disappointed

But enough about that. The GJW was delayed and the Plagueis/Taldryan Pro Bowl is here. As ever, participation is vital. Consider the fact that we’re running this event with another unit. One of the many reasons an event with multiple clans involved is more pressing than a single-clan event is that each unit gets to test themselves against the other. This allows each member of each unit to gauge the other clan(s) and whether we mean to or not, certain perceptions form. If the victory is by a huge margin, the losing clan also loses face and the winning clan members will likely remember the opposing clan as competitively weak. If any of those members decide to change clans, are they going to pick the one that doesn’t rally its members or are they going to pick the one that tries their hardest every time and keeps the opposing team on their toes? When you recruit new members, do you want to tell them we can’t hold our own and that we always lose or do you want to be proud and share our victories?

Furios’ Fantastic Feature

When I wrote the blurb about Ranthe Benzayn on last month’s report, I thought about it and decided that I’m going to try and provide the readers with a new feature each month. It may be art or it may be any number of things I share. I actually forgot report day was coming up so I didn’t actually prepare anything. Instead I bring you baskets! My brother started learning about wilderness survival and one of the funny, little things he picked up was basket weaving. The one on the left is one I made myself with his guidance. The other two are his later models.

In Conclusion

The Pro Bowl event should be keeping us quite occupied for the next three weeks and the DC is busy trying not to keep us waiting too long on that War. Play nice with the Taldryanites and make sure to achieve 100% participation. If you ever need any motivation to keep trying and improving from event to event, just tune in to any of my last six reports. As always, if you have any questions, feel free to message me in Telegram or shoot me an email.

See you next month!
