Disciples of Dakhan Report #1 - Introductions, Updates

header

Hey, it's me again. I'm sure you all know me or will soon. If you were in the team a couple of weeks ago, you probably already saw an email from me. Herein will be a brief report. I'm going to cover:

Great Jedi War & Awards

Let's start with the Great Jedi War. As you probably know, we finished 2nd place overall, which for us is really, really good. I'd really like to challenge for first next time, but considering where we have been in the past, this is a huge improvement. This couldn't have been done without all of you, our Summit, and our members in HMR (including the 1st Hero of the GJW, Ciara!). I'm really proud of you guys. I can't think of a time I have seen so many people in CNS so united and driven to succeed, all aimed at the same goal.

I think we are still in the middle of awards, but I have some to announce.

Sang was awarded an Anteian Cross!

Vosiri was awarded a Grand Cross (wow!)

And I got a Steel Cross.

I anticipate that more is coming than this, but they are being awarded as recommendations are finished. I know there was a lot more activity in the GJW than just those three. I simply wanted to get a report written, and did not want to wait.

Competitions, Wiki Updates, New Team Directive

Here's a quick summary of what's going on currently.

First, I polled you guys on what competitions you like, and I opened three, at the House level. The soonest ends about a week and a half from now. They are:

Trivia
Heroes of the Storm Cluster Race
Fiction

I've also done a little bit of work to update our Wiki Page.

This includes crafting a new theme for the Disciples. The old one dealt with the Lotus, the Inquisitorious, and had a points system to meet to be a member. I have removed all of this. The DJB story is no longer focused on the struggle between the Lotus and Inquisitorious, and I felt like having a team with minimum requirements was frivolous when there is only one team in the House to begin with.

The new theme that I came up with (and that I hope you all like), can best be described by the following passage from the wiki page:

In 37 ABY, having lost much of their old resources and many members, the Disciples of Dakhan reorganized with a new purpose: to protect and secure any location or arcane knowledge important to Naga Sadow that cannot be brought safely into the Clan's threshold. The team collected resident members who were both experts on ancient Sith lore and skilled warriors.

I want you all to know that I didn't just go with this because I thought it sounded good. I actually looked at our current roster and made a list of everyone's skills and abilities at the time, based on their character sheets. This is a little old, but I'll share it here.

As you can see, we have a lot of skills related to the ancient Sith or other historical subjects. We have some members with unique areas of study (Vosiri, I'm looking at you.), and a good array of warriors, problem solvers, and other useful skills. I also wanted it to fit CNS' theme of being the heirs to Naga Sadow's old empire, and of being interested in his legacy. I did not want to be a carbon copy of the clan's mission, though, so I thought, how can I make this slightly different?

I looked at our mixture of heavy hitters and scholars and decided that it would be good for us to focus on that ancient lore which cannot be easily taken someplace safe. This means securing, watching over, and preserving any ancient monument, tomb, or other location that cannot be moved. That includes removing any hostile force occupying or threatening such locales.

A theme does not mean you are beholden to follow and serve those interests. It's just there to provide an idea, a jumping off point, a plot hook, and a fictional reason for the team to exist. There you have it, and I hope you like it.

End

That's all I have for this report. Keep an eye out for future storylines and competitions from our upper CNS leadership. I'll also endeavour to make reports more often than once a month. I might even include a bit of fiction next time.
