Grand Master Report

Silence is precious to many. The calming reprieve from scheming and idle chatter is treasured by every leader in the Brotherhood. Muz counted his blessings with cursing language as he paced the floor in front of the chair made of wrought and cold iron. He inventoried the massive building in his own mind. Every Force Sensitive creature had left Antei, save for those few locked in the bowels of Codei Prison. His decree that the Dark Council could return to their home clans to vy for Salas V had emptied the hall, except for Kir, Paladin and Kaek, and even those three were off on their own errands. Alone with the gravel-voiced ghost his mind created, Muz paced for hours on end, focusing himself as it spoke half truths and conspiracy theories in ways that only he could hear.

He eyed the throne warily. <p>

He always did.<p>

Report time.

Rite of Supremacy: Spoils of War set to start January Second, 2010<p>

The DCers that have decided to take part in the event have already made their declarations and have been returned to their home clans. Clan to clan transfers have been suspended until after the RoS. Earlier this week, I also showed the ladder and the randomized matches as they were set up. I'll repost here.<p>

Another thing that I wanted to emphasize is that in this RoS, you only will be competing with the clan or house that you are paired against So, if you game, you have to game against the enemy clan. If you ACC, it will only be against the enemy clan. If you do fiction, gfx, or poetry, the entries will only be judged against those of the enemy clan. Several people seemed to miss that point, and it is a big one, so I wanted to stress it.

Herald Style Hannukkah, that time of year where the Herald and I get together to put out all sorts of new options for the Brotherhood to use. This year, we've stepped it up from last year, releasing more stuff in volume (and in quality, I'd like to think) for everyone to play with and incite people to go for promotions. Shikyo and I have each done about as much stuff as the both of us combined did last year, so the goodies keep on rolling. Also, I wanted to shed a little light on Robin Hawk, who drew up a female nude for her own project a few years back, and I ended up using as the base for the new female robes that I did this year (the Blood, Steam, and Smuggler sets). The pose is a bit more dramatic and has a bit more flair, so i think it worked out well. Thanks for the inspiration and the model, RH.

I have decided to postpone the Armed forces reset until after the RoS. It didn't make sense to do a reset and have to add points to it right after the Rite anyway. But this time, there will be ground forces prchased in addition to fleet ships. A decent pile of advisors really like some of the new enhancements and things that can be done with this new iteration.

Talos asks:I read on the wiki that, as long as there is work for them, Councillors can employ Magistrates at their discretion. I did not however see a cap on the number of Magistrates that one DCer may have. Is there a limit to that or is it pretty much as many as a DCer needs to get his job done? Another question is, how does one become a Magistrate? I know for the Seneschal and Herald, you'd need coding and gfx skills respectively, but for the others, does the DCer approach the person or would you e-mail that respective Councillor to see if there is a spot open? Thanks, Grandmaster, and happy holidays!

<p>

While there is no cap on the number of magistrates that a Dark Councilor has, they do have to justify (to me) a reason for having them. So it comes down to 'Is there enough work to warrant hiring another magistrate?'<p>

As far as becoming a magistrate, generally, positions will be advertised, or the Dark Councilor will come to someone that they feel has the necessary skills to do the work that they need done. I would generally advise against asking DCers if they have positions open, because they will generally fill position by applications or directly. If you are interested in working for a specific office, You can always offer to help them, without specifically asking for a position...if your work is good and they need more staff, they will keep you in mind.

Over the last few weeks, I have seen a lot of things getting ramped up. One of the people that has been instrumental in this is Orv, our resident Seneschal and Code-God. His work has been spectacular in not only actually facilitating the conversion of our site to php (heck, in the last two weeks, he redid the saber and robe scripts to convert them in an evening), but he's also found the time to work up a site for the RoS and help me sort out how we're going to do match reporting and even help out with some really cool stuff for the Background of the RoS. His work has been constant and very high quality...and I am more than happy to be able to promote Orv to his next rank. Congratulations on your elevation, Orv.

<p>

Another constant aid has been Korras Tarentae, who has been doing a lot of heavy lifting with the MAAs office as of late, helping process the day to day stuff and freeing up Kaek to work on his enhancements to the office. He's also been a key advisor and proofreader on my projects, from the Clan Force Powers to the forthcoming Armed Forces reset. Korras has been an old friend to me in the past, and it is good to see him working toward the betterment of the club again, reminding me of how much of a dynamic force he can be. His assistance has been invaluable to my efforts, and It is for that reason that I am awarding him an Amethyst Kukri. Congratulations, old friend.

<p>

There are a lot of people who are due for promotions and medals, and I am working on sorting those out over this next week or so. Watch for news posts from me regarding those.<p>

Congrats Orv!

New comment box...no one told me about this.

Congrats Orv. I have seen the results of your work and it is truly an pleasure to see. Congrats Korras on the Kukri, the timely matter at which you run things through the MAA&#39;s office is very impressive. Thanks Muz for the mention. Liz Taylor&#39;s body was fun to create :P, and hopefully my secret project might become some kind of useful tool for DB members...or just something to play with. Taig...don&#39;t you have people for that :P

&#34;He eyed the throne warily.&#34; - I&#39;d look out that Throne might just try taking your job... or something like that... Muz was acting like he was paranoid... or maybe it&#39;s just me... Congrats Orv!

w00t! Thanks for the promo to all involved! And thank you, fellow commenters :D

Love the Fog Robes Muz. Looking forward to more steam-punkish awesomeness.
