Sith High Warrior Report

Sith High Warrior Report

Greetings

I am now fully back from my leave and ready for action once more I have had a couple of entries for the find the Sith a new platform, and all of these will be put in for the vote, if they get enough people wanting to play them we will use them if we don’t we won’t pretty simple really so log on and go to the Sith Platform Polls.

RESTRUCTURING

There has also been a lot of talk of restructuring the Sith and a possible merger at an order level, I can tell everyone this will not be happening, the Sith will remain an independent order and I hope one which will rise to strengthen once more within the brotherhood.

A quick note to anyone who is concerned about the state of the Sith and in particular the number levels of certain houses, firstly please remember that both the Krath and Obelisk have existed with very small houses many of which have been fun and active places to be, so while large houses may look impressive but a smaller house can respond quickly to things and the leadership can tailor the house much more effectively to the needs of it’s members. Saying all that there are currently houses which really are just too small to exist and these houses have some choice to make, if they can bring themselves up to a size where they can operate (roughly 6-8 members although this can be discussed on a case by case basis based on activity) or they can take more severe action, at the moment the most popular choice seems to be merging within clans. The most likely merge would be between the sith and Obelisk houses of any given clan.

Anyone wishing to take this route must first discuss it with their clan leaders, I must stress this is the FIRST point of call, once the clan leaders has said that it is acceptable to them then the other house leader e.g. the one of the other house involved, must be consulted. Once all of this is done and you have an action plan of how this will happen e.g. who will lead this joint house and how it will function THEN both of the order leaders must be contacted and only then will any sort of official approval be given. Each merge will be on a case by case basis and will be judged on it’s own merits, the key factor being is it needed and will it cause more problems then it fixes. Houses wishing to stay apart which are not viable (e.g. ones with 3 members will be monitored for the next three months closely and if the house is neither active nor looking likely to be active further action will be taken.

The best rule of thumb is if you are active enough to be alive then the house can stay, if the no one is being active then the house is going.

MISSION DESIGN

Second point is mission design I want to thank Gord and his team for there hard work, and also they mission designers themselves Dagger is one I know a lot about because the guy never stops! It is great work and you are creating something which is a vital part of the sith order for a long time to come so thank you, it has been noticed.

There has been problems with regards to medals and releasing missions as no one has really taken charge of this so I will be now: P

This is the way that mission design submission and release will work.

If you have any idea then do it, any platform from TIE, XvT and XWA are acceptable (with others to come later I hope)

The sort of mission types that are acceptable is anything which is not just kill kill kill missions, these missions are very very boring, almost everyone writes one when they first start out and it might get through once, that’s it though once.

The best missions have a good storyline and a storyline which people can play an active part of.

The truly great missions are the ones which take the pilot to the next level and they start to want to know more about what’s happening and to really create an active battlefield, the best way to learn how to do this is always going to be by watching the masters so when first starting out try to take apart some of the better missions and looking at how they were done, by no means to I say you should steal ideas but hopefully it should give you some ideas of your own.

Most of the mission designers we have are really nice people and will be happy to help out any newbie just starting out.

If you don’t have an idea then contact Gord, and myself we should be able to get you a few ideas to start with.

Once you have wrote your mission and tested it, write both a short description of the mission and the readme.txt file which will outline how the mission should be installed and used and also include the disclaimers which state that these are not created or endorsed by LucasArts.

I have not highlighted so let me highlight it now, you test your missions NOT US, all of the missions which are submitted should have been tested by either the designer himself or by someone who he conn’ed, I mean asked to do it. NOT the Sith testing team, the reason for this is fairly simple, if you test it and an error comes up you fix it, if we test and an error comes up we hit you.

The team will test to check everything is fine and if it just a small bug may well fix it, they will not and are not supposed to fix major problems which came about because you have not tested it, these missions will just get returned to you with a small short mail saying ‘TEST IT FIRST!’

However once it has been tested and you have done the paper work submit it to Gord who will then assign people to test it.

Once it has passed the tests, it will be passed back to Gord, Gord has the final say on what gets approved, he says it’s approved it’s approved and vice versa.

Once it’s been approved by Gord he will pass it on to me for release, I will upload it and it is then an official DB battle/Mission, also once he has passed it on to me I will also award the medal and announce it.

And that’s it.

NEW ACTIVITY

Based on the competition ran by Alanna (Go Lannie! Go Lannie!) I am going to start up a new type of activity it’s something that has happened in the past but was never really regarded as much.

The is mission outline design, based on Alanna’s competition, To help us get a decent level of missions, I am asking for people to write outlines for missions. The idea is to create an outline, which can then be easily turned into a mission.

Each outline should include: -

·A general storyline/outline for the battle and each mission.

·An in-depth storyline for each mission

·A rough map outlining in general where things should be placed.

·Full listing for each item and ship

E.g

T/A (6) Predator – No Beam

         Missiles

         Skill: Master

         Side: Ally

·Any scripted type events or responses should be described in as much detail as possible

·All messages that happen must be clearly stated and noted when they should happen, if you want to use WAV. Files (for XWA) you must record or obtain these yourself.

·Clear objectives for success must be outlined

oIndividual secondary and bonus objectives should also be outlined.

oFinishing the storyline for after the mission should have both success and failure messages.

oIn the case of TIE please bear in mind that questions are asked so if you want to include these it may help as well.

In short you should try to make the whole process as easy for the mission designer.

The process of submission will be simple to submit a design you send it to me (cc.ing your house leaders) if it matches up to a decent standard (i.e is not just a kill kill kill mission or a copy of another mission) and is technically possible and at least vaguely interesting it will be approved and uploaded to a site (which I am writing over the weekend) from there mission designers can read them, anyone wishing to then create the mission will mail me and I will remove the design from the site active list and mail the outline writer to let them know.

Rewards for this will be based on the quality of the submissions but will normally be a DC for 2-3 submissions, quality ones will clearly be award higher rates and the acid test of the quality is if people make the missions, so designs which are used will be rewarded higher still. The rewards are only an outline and these may be increased or decreased based on the quality of the outlines.

Writing a outline is not a guarantee of getting a mission made and nor does the outline designer have rights of ownership over the final mission (unless this is transferred by the mission creator) however you will listed as the outline writer for the final mission/battle.

PRETOR

Well my previous SHW: P has become an Obelisk so surprising enough I am looking for a new one!

The job will primarily be to run the core MP areas of the sith and also to act as acting-SHW if I am away.

The role does not require any rank but you must have time to devote to the position.

The role is open only to the sith order and will be awarded with a month probation period attached, after this time the role will be given.

The job will not be an easy one and it will certainly be more then a five min job nor will it just be website updating so please any apply if you are willing to devote serious time and effort in making the Sith order a better more active place to be.

Anyone wanting to apply should mail me the following.

A brief history of them in the DB

A list of the skills they have (include anything you think is worthwhile)

A brief list of the things you think you could bring to the Sith in this role.

I will carry on taking submissions for at least a week and longer depending on applications.
