Trivia Code of Conduct
General Overview

Shadow Academy Trivia was designed as a way to test Brotherhood members' knowledge of Star Wars and Brotherhood lore, as well as a way to award Legions of the Scholar. Below is information on how to go about submitting questions for SA Trivia, as well as the rules expected to be upheld by both participants and moderators.

Moderators

Moderator for SA Trivia is generally the Magistrate to the Headmaster. At times, however, the position will be open to Brotherhood members. Those interested should contact the Headmaster and the Magistrate to the Headmaster with a list of questions. Before each trivia session, the list of questions must be emailed to the Headmaster and Magistrate to the Headmaster for approval.

IRC Trivia

When running, SA IRC Trivia is held weekly on either Saturday or Sunday in #shadowacademy on IRC. IRC Trivia is made up of fifteen questions centered around a single topic. Before the game begins, those participating must provide their dossier number to the Moderator (who will have ops). The topic of the trivia session along with the following rules will be provided in the channel before the session begins.

  • When it comes to spelling, as long as the word can be recognized, it counts
  • When it comes to specificity, as long as enough of the answer is provided to get the point, it counts
  • When a question involves a number answer, participants can make -only- three guesses before being eliminated for the duration of that question. DO NOT simply type random numbers or answers
  • The first five questions are worth one point each, the second five two points, and the last five three points. Difficulty rises with each round
  • While the moderator will track the accumulation of points, it is suggested that the participants also do so, preferably by changing their nick to include their point count

In the event of Tie Breakers, those involved will be voiced by the Moderator, and the channel will be set to Moderated mode. A single question chose randomly by the Moderator will be asked, and the first to answer is given the placing.

Forum Trivia

When running, SA Forum Trivia is held weekly in the Shadow Academy sub-forum in the Brotherhood Message Boards. Each week, the ten trivia questions are posted in the pinned SA Trivia topic. Those participating should email the answers to the ten questions to the Moderator's email address, which should be listed in the post. Answers are not to be posted in the topic, which will be locked in between posting questions, but emailed to the Moderator. Be sure to include your name and dossier number in the email along with your answers.

Forum questions typically follow a specific topic related to either the Dark Brotherhood or the Star Wars Universe. The first two people to get the most questions correct win for the week.

Awarding

Awards for SA Trivia are the same for both Forum and IRC versions: Legions of the Scholar. In Forum Trivia the first two people to get the most answers correct are awarded. In IRC Trivia, the people with the top two highest points are awarded. In the case of ties, a Tie Breaker question between only those tied is held. No matter how many Tie Breakers are held, no more than three people may be awarded for each week of SA IRC Trivia.

Once the winners have been decided, the Moderator shall email the Headmaster with member names and dossier numbers for submission of the awards.

Closing

Any problems occurring during SA Trivia should be emailed to the Headmaster, Praetor to the Headmaster, and Trivia Moderator along with evidence of the problem. The Headmaster will look into the event and determine if further action is needed. DO NOT dispute how a trivia session ends without good reason to do so. Making stupid complaints will result in a ban from further trivia sessions. Any questions should be sent to the Headmaster and the Praetor to the Headmaster.
