Hey all,

Following with the concept used by several other units, a new email address has been created for use by the Voice of the Brotherhood and his/her staff. This new email address will be used primarily for competitions. When submitting to competitions being run by the office of the Voice, you now simply have to email that specific email address instead of emailing Vodo and the staff member running the competition. Any and all competition sign-ups will also be sent to this account, to ensure that there is official record of a competition sign-up.

The designated email address is voiceofthebrotherhood@gmail.com. Simple, right? This allows for ease of access to any submissions for any of our comptitions, and even eases the submission/registration process for you! Instead of having to CC a million members when sending a competition submission, you simply have to CC this email address and your House/Clan summit. If your House/Clan summit use an activity email, all the better!

Currently, this email address is only meant for competition submissions/registration/questions. It does not affect the currently running 'Choices' competition. Those most still be sent directly to Vodo and your respective summits. This is just forewarning for upcoming and future competitions. Any other business should be sent directly to Vodo (vodo.biask@gmail.com) and myself (anneliese@taldryan.net). While on the topic of upcoming competitions - stay tuned for new ones being released within the next week.

You have less than two weeks to complete your Three-Man Run-Ons. Get 'r done.

His Honor,

Sith Battlemaster Anubis Annedu

DA Shikyo Sasuke Keibatsu Report http://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/dbjedi/reports.php?report=14314 Shikyo Sasuke Keibatsu Hello, Dark Jedi Brotherhood! Live from the Middle East, I am here to release a report to you all with some goodies to show and some announcements I hope you all have been looking forward to. First and foremost even though I have released this report, I am still on a Leave of Absence. Being on a ship out in the middle of the ocean, I can't use IRC and I can't check my personal email. The only exception is when I can finally find some wi-fi when we pull in to port and even then, there are some things I want to do and see, aside from you guys. So please, make sure you all are emailing Ekeia for all HRLD issues. Secondly, I would like to thank everyone for the Emerald Dagger, especially those who wrote recommendations for it. Just knowing that people appreciate the work that is done for them and that they notice a progression in the quality of the work really means a lot to me. As soon as I saw it on my dossier, I had to work on a new rendition for my Wiki. Check it out and tell me what you think. Now, I have an announcement regarding the Face Selector. I have gone back, cleaned up some of the images for the site, re-sized them, and even worked on a couple of new options. Here's some of the new options we will have coming for you: So far, I know we have images for the following species: Males: Twi'lek, Mon Calamari, Trandoshian, Wookie Females: Cathar, Falleen, Twi'lek Muz has been working on the more human/near-human images and once I have an update from him, I will be sure to pass the information on to you all. Next, even though we finished Herald Style Hanukkah a month or so ago, the sexiness is on the production line and there's some good stuff already produced. No teasers, everyone. I'm not allowed to open until X-mas. However while researching some new saber ideas from former Jedi and Sith, I remembered a conversation Muz and myself had about more "legendary" lightsabers. This brought about why we didn't have replicas of Revan's or Exar Kun's lightsabers when we had Vader, Maul, and Sidious available. Well, the ancient Sith Lords are much more badass and deserve one-of-a-kind weapons. That being said, I have started work on a group of sabers that are considered "legendary sabers". They will be one of a kind and be available for Possessions. However, that does not stop me from being a tease. Depending on the orientation of the member, Light or Dark, they can receive either Darth Revan's lightsaber or Jedi Master Revan's lightsaber. No, both sabers will not be issued out. Currently, I have templates for Darth Malak, Darth Bane, Darth Nihilus, Exar Kun, and Ulic Qel-Droma. Once I have more available to you, the teasers will return. Lastly, I am approaching my 1,000th lightsaber created since taking over as Herald, with 770 of those lightsabers designed by myself. This being said, there will be two special rewards for the member who gets the 1,000 request processed in the Herald Office and another for whoever becomes my 1,000th lightsaber personally made. I will let the member decide what they are receiving. The only thing that I ask that it stays reasonable, (i.e. no lightsaber blasters, Howie. :P) Now, let's move on to the sexiness!

Drodik asks: "If a member makes their own lightsaber/warbanner, does it count against them in regards to the Rule of Three?" Long answer: If a member makes their own warbanner, I will deny it automatically, unless I know they are former Staff. The reason being is because there are some requirements that I instruct the Staff on that the general population does not know. For example, images have to be rendered in a specific way to maintain a nice look on the warbanner without reducing the integrity of the warbanner image. As for a lightsaber, I have to review the image of the saber before I decide whether or not it is approved for upload. Again, there are certain criteria that have to be taken under consideration before I can give it the thumbs up. Short answer: Yes and yes. Halcyon asks: "Who is your most favoritest green-haired person in the DB?" Hands down, without a shadow of a doubt, it would have to be Halc. The guy signs my paychecks. :p A couple of members ask: "Why are some members' lightsabers disappearing from their options once they choose a standard saber then try to return to their custom options?" Well, there are three reasons for that. 1.) an accident on our end when we name a lightsaber, 2.) an accident when we implement new coding on something that affects the dossiers, but the biggest reason has been that Orv has found a tool for the HRLD Staff to use to help cut down on the size of our lightsabers and robes while retaining their quality. Some of the images we render that do not make their way through this process can be deleted once a member changes their image. Hopefully, this will not be as big an issue as it has been of recent. If you have any questions about anything, please feel free to send me an email or find me in #HRLD_Office you can also ask a question here. Arcona Consul Report http://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/dbjedi/post.php?id=6404 Wuntila Zratian Entar Arconae House Arcona Aedile Report

Light is limited; Darkness is infinite

(Sorry to Fremoc and Shikyo for pushing down their reports! Be sure to read them guys!)

There will be no introductory fiction for this particular report. I will simply redirect you to the Arcona Family Feud Storyline Arc. If you haven't read it already, I'd suggest taking a few minutes to peruse over it. It is rather pertinent to the current competitions and fictional basis of the Clan.

Report

So, we're back to report posting. I do apologise as to the lateness of this report. It is seriously overdue. For that, I can only extend my sincerest of apologies. I was swamped at University in the closing weeks leading up to Christmas, and over January myself and Wally were very busy constructing, writing and developing the Arcona Family Feud event. Suffice it to say we will be getting right back on schedule as of now and we have some big news for you.

Firstly, I'd like to say that there is an ACC championship ladder running at present. I'd urge you all to sign up and participate. Even if you don’t get through, its some good practice. Wouldn't it be great to have an Arconan champion? Signups are being taken at present. Refer back to Dash’s post lower down in the news postings for more information.

Secondly, The Old Republic is on the rise! Apparently the Dark Brotherhood guild is starting to dominate the server. Now is your time to get involved in the community. I've had a few reports of individuals moving into different channels and playing in their own groups. I'd strongly advise against this. It is the time to show that you guys can work outside of Arcona and get involved with the community at large. Join the big groups. Play with other Brotherhood members. Get involved in Ventrilo. This is a good opportunity for the Brotherhood to make its mark on the server. It would be nice to see some Arconans joining in on that process.

Now, with the rounding-off of the Arcona Family Feud event, and with the collation of data that is currently going on, I can only say I'm astonished. You have all done a fantastic job. The activity rates, the quality of submissions and the enthusiasm you have all shown in this event has been inspiring. I feel like a proud father, so well done to you all. Please, keep it up.

We have a couple of new items being drawn up as we speak, so keep your eyes on this space for further developments.

Celahir has had to step down from his position as Quaestor of House Galeres. I would like you to all join me in saying thank you to him for his work since we were reclanned. Taking his place will be the very able Sanguinius Entar. He is a good man, but be nice, he can be delicate. He is now the main contact point for all members of house Galeres. A big warm welcome to him. Similarly, Xathia has had to step down from her position as Rollmaster of Galeres. Again, join me in thanking her for her work.

Now, with the departure of these two members of the Summit, there are two positions available. Galeres Aedile and Galeres Rollmaster will be opened Dark Brotherhood Wide:

We expect applicants to understand the position (general duties outlined below) and to possess the following qualities:

Galeres Aedile

Report #15
Its report time. It's been one month since ToR released, and our guild grows larger and larger. In the last month we've seen additions to the ToR staff, in terms of Raid Leaders and community helpers because our guild is over 300 members alone on the Sith Empire side. Here's to growing and becoming the utter champions of Keller's Void. For the last several weeks Varoth has been leading groups into Eternity Vault and Karagaa's Palace, and each time we've come out victorious as you guys have seen, as well as running through both Operations on Hard mode and part of Nightmare mode. Valdrane has stepped up as well, in the recent week to help run another 8 man group through Eternity Vault. As of this week, we are slimming our raiding schedule down to Tuesday nights at 9pm EST will be HARD MODE Eternity Vault/Karagaa's Palace while 9pm EST on Fridays will be 16 man NORMAL MODE Eternity Vault/Karagaa's Palace to help newer level 50's get their gear to go on Hard Mode ops. For those of you that want to get your gear without doing the Operations, you can get Tionese and Columi gear by defeating the final bosses in Hard Mode flashpoints. Although the Columi gear is randomly for one of the four classes, you would have a one in four chance in getting a Columi armor piece. Last night I actually went with Varoth and a few others and was able to score my Rakata Offhand shield Generator and my Columi main hand lightsaber. VERY happy to finally have both of those. Continuing with some more ToR staff additions, Kalia and Eiko have stepped up to be Community Helpers, while Scottx, aka Scotty, has become our PvP leader since his wonderful personality sparked our feud with the GAF Empire. :P Our ToR wiki page houses a lot of information pertaining to Operations, PvP, how to get your CF's, and rules. This page does get updated often, so be sure to regularly check it so you don't miss something. Moving onto some more serious business, Dante recently had to step down as a bout of real life ripped his soul away from the Dark Jeid Brotherhood. ACC Championship Ladder! http://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/dbjedi/post.php?id=6402 Teroch Erinos
Today marks the start of signups for the DB's 5th Championship Ladder! If you want to get involved and strut your stuff in the ACC then you just need to go and log into the ACC site, then click the 'ladder' tab on your left menu bar. From there, you should be able to sign up with just the click of a button. If you have any problems signing up, just shoot me an email and we'll see if we can't work it out.

I will be looking for participants in multiples of 8, so if we hit 32, I'm closing signups. That means it's first come first serve. Natrally, you have to be qualified in the ACC already to participate. There'll be more information on the venues and posting order closer to the start of the Ladder, which is on the 14th (that's right you dateless wonders, it means there's ANOTHER thing to distract yourselves with apart from the ME3 demo).

I can tell you now that it will be a knockout ladder, and your opponents will be randomised. No complicated team battles, no second chances, and no confusing point totals. You win and you advance. You lose, and you're out. Sound fun? Hell yes it does. Get going and sign up!]]>
Call to Arms! http://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/dbjedi/post.php?id=6401 Teroch Erinos
Tomorrow brings the beginning of signups for the the ACC's Championship Ladder. More details on how to sign up will be listed tomorrow. However, in the meantime, I'd like to ask your help. I want to make this as fun as possible, and as with all ACC venues, a truly skilled opponent knows that the Venue is very, very important. To that end, if you have good venue ideas, email me. It doesn't have to be a full description (though that's preferable), but whatever your ideas, send them over and we'll discuss utilising it for the Ladder.

Thanks,

DP Halcyon Taldrya Report http://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/dbjedi/reports.php?report=14311 Halcyon Taldrya
Report #5 - January 30, 2012

Droplets of water fell into the basin below as he held his own gaze. His breathing was hurried, his chest heaving in exertion. Sweat kept his hair matted to the sides of his face, his hair in disarray. Managing to finally calm his body down he closed his emerald eyes for a second...

"Going down with the ship?"

The Sith's eyes shot open, confusion marring his face before remembering where he was. The sound of escaping atmosphere whistled in his ear, the forcefields flickering in and out of operation. The
Cotelin had managed to fight it's way through the initial barrage, but eventually had succumbed to the enemies might. Yet just as her namesake held back the force on the planet below, the powerful vessel fought to keep herself together.

"I'm surprised you came with the assault yourself, Admiral", the Sith Lord responded as he turned to face their ultimate aggressor.

"If this were to end, I think my father would very much appreciate if I saw it to the end personally".
"He wasn't your father".
"Semantics, Hal..."
"You do not get to call me that", he nearly spat, hate pounding behind the emerald eyes.

"My apologies, Darth Vires. Now, does the Brotherhood offer their unconditional surrender or must Antei finally be ground to dust?"

Halcyon's eyes shot open and faced the haunted stare that looked back at him.

It's been awhile since I've done a report, and like many others the insidious monster that is TOR has taken hold of much of my free time. My "free" time is fairly limited, and so I have been choosing to play The Old Republic rather than focusing on pushing the various projects on my plate. While I do apologise for not doing nearly as much as I should be, it has also been nice to focus on doing something truly for myself and having a blast. I'm slowing getting a hang of splitting my time, so I should be able to get some traction on these projects in the next week or two. As such, most of this report will be various other updates and general SW news. Yay? Yay!

As for that fiction up there...yeah, I've finally decided on a "Darth" name, while seeding some future ideas running in my head. I don't plan on changing my actual DB name to Darth Vires, but it's something that can be used in fiction and what not. I've been Sith Lord for awhile now, so I guess it's about time I chose a name as well. As for this "vision"? Who knows if it will come to pass :)

First up...more talking about The Old Republic! (stop your moaning! :P).

Just want to briefly discuss the integration of our Guilds and the rest of the Brotherhood. What everyone must realize is that you cannot fully integrate a MMO into the rest of the DB as we can with other games like Jedi Academy or Battlefront. The focus of the Houses and the Clans is not to find ways to use TOR, but instead to offer an experience that is different from the game. It is to get members to want to participate in activities that does not involve The Old Republic, but instead focuses on the fictional aspects of the club as well as the other activities that we offer. It is more about finding a balance between the Guild and the Dark Brotherhood proper. We also have a number of people who are not in TOR and as such require us to continue offering them the level of focus that they require so that they too may have fun.

Next up, a little update on the fiction side of the rest of the Star Wars universe.

I have just finished reading this novel, and I enjoyed it much more than the Revan novel. However, I also know that this probably isn't for a lot of people. There is not a ton of action, but instead much of the focus is on the history of both Plagueis and Palpatine. It really delves into their backgrounds and explains everything about them leading up to The Phantom Menace. There is a lot of subterfuge and politics being played, and it really did give me a better idea of just who Palpatine is. Also, there was a number of little details thrown in about past Sith Lords that hopefully are expanded on in future novels.

These are a few books coming down the line in the next few months. The Millennium Falcon Manual will be interesting to anyone who is a fan of that famous vessel and wants to know basically everything there is to know about it. I own a copy of the Enterprise Manual by the same makers and I quite enjoyed it.

Apocalypse is the final book in the "Fate of the Jedi" series. This series has been pretty hit-and-miss. Some cool ideas, but they basically made it this maxi-series rather than just focusing on the key points and making it a trilogy. Going forward they have said they are moving away from these massive multi-part novels and instead doing more duologies and trilogies. As for this series, it will be interesting to see how things end and if they status quo does change in any way. I'm hoping for something unexpected.

Last, the Essential Guide to Warfare. I've generally been a sucker for these Essential Guides. They do offer a good deal of information in an attractive package. The Warfare topic is new for the Essential Guides. I suggest having a quick look over in an actual book store before making a purchase on these guides, just to see if the quality is there.

Star Wars Live Action: Earlier this month Rick McCallum, Star Wars producer, was talking about the long-in-the-making Live action Star Wars show. Click on that link in the beginning to get a quick breakdown of what he was talking about, or you can just watch the actual interview where he talks about the show. For a hint of what th

The Lando Effect: How to defeat a Force User

Rant time! Yay! Had a few topics in mind, but thought I would go with one that I continuously hard about. I have been seeing a large number of competitions being run within Clans and Houses when the ideas and topics would work so much better for the rest of the DB. The idea of keeping everything contained within your own unit is outdated, and while there are a number of competitions that can be run within a House/Clan, many of those currently being run are not specific to the unit. For example, seeing competitions based around The Old Republic being contained to just one unit. Why? Why not run it for everyone? We have always offered a number of avenues to get those competitions out to the masses.

Once that competition is released to the entire DB, units seem obliged to forget they were ever released. I see so many updates and reports that focus only on unit-specific competitions. People seem to forget there is a world outside of their House or Clan? I'm not entirely sure. DB-wide competitions will generally offer better rewards as well as enabling members to really be noticed by the Dark Council. Seeing that talent for ourselves helps us tremendously. One of the qualities we look to in leaders is to think not just about their own area of the DB, but instead to think about the rest of the club as a whole. The very act of reaching out and running a competition for everyone speaks volumes about that leader, as does actually updating their members to competitions being run by others not in their House or Clan.

There is only a limited amount of time and energy each person in the club can dedicate. As such it is our responsibility to ensure we give everyone quality activities to participate in. By working together we can actually achieve that goal.

That's the end of the report. As always, please feel free to poke me or e-mail me if you have any questions or comments.

Consul Report Four

Welcome to edition Four of Ye Olde Consul Report. Of late, I find myself spending hours compiling statistics from emails. You guys have been very busy!

Other big news is the Alliance of Steel friendly competition with Taldryan. We are awaiting one last detail, and then we’ll release all the events for the first week. The first part of the storyline is out, and look for fictional updates from us later as this operation progresses. The plot, you ask? It appears baradium from our system has been found in explosives used aboard some Taldryan transports near Mustafar. Here at home, we have found explosives with Taldryan technology in the detonators and controls…. Read the fictional update for more. We look forward to our Alliance with Taldryan.

Our Clan Fictional Update is almost done. This is a document compiled by the entire Summit, with fictional goals as to where we are heading. Once it gets vetted by our DC advisor, we plan to release it. A little teaser- the Dlarit Corporation will hopefully be opening a new Medical manufacturing arm with the help of our Verpine engineers and technology traded from Taldryan. Med tech not as cool as blasters? Not really! Just think about it…

Transfers and appointments:

Mirado is now a Magistrate to the Voice! Consider this: if you check the roster, including DC members, we have a lot of former or current Naga Sadow folks in there. That says something good to me. Edit: Tiamath also became a Magistrate to the Fist.

Promotions: Congrats especially to Jeric for making Equite Three, and Kairus to finally getting Knighted! Also, to all the new folks who are working so hard, and the old folks training them. ?

Jeric to SBL, Kairus- DJK, Atra to PRT, Korwyn PRT , Rathelm to PRT, Redec PRT, Kalia to ACO , Andros to NOV, Spartacus to NOV, Valdrane to NOV

Medals awarded:

Going back to my last report, it’s a LOT. It took some time to compile this! Even the Master At Arms was joking once about it on IRC. I literally could not count the number of Clusters of Fire awarded. The ToR folks have been gaming their tails off. It’s many, like waves on the sea. Just to give you an idea, there were something like 152 emails with the words “Medal Request Approved” in my inbox. Very well done, Clan-mates. Also a special Shout Out to the Headmaster, Taigikori. He just earned himself the coveted Ruby Scepter, and he’s one of our own. Also special congrats to Methyas on his Grand Cross, and Locke on his Diamond Crescent. You are all making me very proud. Keep it up!

GM Muz Ashen Report http://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/dbjedi/reports.php?report=14304 Muz Ashen Outer Rim Tingel Arm Drongar System Drongar "That's the last of the guards," commented Cawel as his lithe form became visible again. The White Current adept's form blurred into view holding a vicious-looking vibrosword. Beside him, the body of a Republic guard dropped to the ground with a bloody gurgle, her throat neatly cut. The Zabrak prodded her with his boot in curiosity. “This place is a hell-hole. Bet she rots in just a few hours.” One hand placed on her chest drained the last few ergs of her life energy forth to re-invigorate the Adept. Around them vines and creepers festered like verdant snakes greedily clutching at the scenery. A gaping moss-covered maw yawned before them both. Republic script identified it as "Security Level Ten - Off Limits"”. Although the hoary verdigris and soil of many millennia covered the mass, recent archaeological excavations identified the opening as part of an ancient space-faring vessel. "This is the spot" nodded Renci Tosh as she clenched her azure lightsaber in one tight fist. "The Clone War records master Zoraan provided from his contact were accurate, it seems. This must be the wreck of the Dazilomswi." The woman peered into the darkness with eyes brimming with the Force as her sizzling blade provided illumination. "Fortunately the old Separatists weren’t thorough with their saturation bombing." Her battle-scarred face clenched in a grimace. "Agreed," replied the Zabrak Fallanassi. "It must be the place. The aura is intense. It reeks of the Dark Side." His eyes closed, seeking for eddies in the White Current. "It is very, very old. Older than the Sith even. It reeks of power and pent-up hate." All around them faint screams echoed in the ether, subtle emotions heard only in the mind of those who could feel them. The evil that radiated from the shattered bulkhead wall was almost palatable. One thing was strange, however. It almost seemed to beckon them rather than push them away. "In we go," remarked the human fallen Jedi. "Or are you too afraid, my pet?" She snickered at the Zabrak’s discomfort. Tosh had given up her Jedi view of the Potentium some time ago and now served a much darker Master. One she feared much more than any ancient stinking ship’s hold. "We have our orders. Or are you willing to risk the Fallen One’s wrath?" "I am most certainly not willing to risk it," commented the Zabrak Force Adept dryly. Or his madness. Both of the Darksiders stepped into the breach gingerly, casting about with enhanced senses for danger. As they began to pick up items from the chests and walls, they had no idea that danger had already found them. In fact, it found them to be tasty. Renci Tosh grasped a wicked-looking blade that radiated a faint red light. "The Sword of Lysu Thren," she whispered as greenish dust sifted down from the ancient blade to coat her hand and chest. "My Master will be pleased." The twenty thousand year old Bogan-imbued blade pulsed in her hand, emitting more sanguine light as it awakened. The powdery cysts began their molting stage from the warmth of their bodies as the looters rummaged in the forbidden treasure box. It had begun. They were hungry, and now they had those who used the Force to infest. Dinner was served. Soon they would begin to spread as their long-dead Creator had foreseen. Things were going exactly as planned. The pawns had taken the bait. --------- Antei Dark Hall Grand Master's Office The room was darker than one might have expected, even for a Dark Lord. The dull sheen of polished wood and cortosis trim reflected what little light came from the wall sconce on the far side of the room. He sat there in silence, leaning over the datapad, the backlight turned almost all the way down. Lifting his arm, he noticed the dent worn in from more than five years of the same pose. He let his fingers run across the groove, feeling the compressed wood before fanning out across the rest of the desk, feeling for traces of the others, those that came before. His mind wandered further, debating what those who would succeed him would feel, if they'd notice.

REPORT TIME.

So, unless you've been living under a rock, you'll have noticed that Bioware's newest Star Wars Game has come out. The Old ZRepublic is a massively multiplayer online game, and it is set in ancient times. Now, I typically don't do MMOs. I never played WOW, and though i played SWG for a few years, it was more to hang out with Kaine and friends in-game. I sucked at it, to be fair, but still, it was more of a thing i did once in a while. My computer wouldn't run it anyway, so I figured I'd just sit this one out and watch how things developed from the sidelines. I'm pretty notoriously cheap on computer stuff...heck, my laptop is five years old, and that is my newest computer. Then Sarin sent me a facebook message. it was 'TOR is like IRC with badass graphics' Then IRC went quiet, as everyone was exploring the game. Then a geeky guy at work started harassing me and bragging about how he was downloading the game right as we spoke. He plays lighties. That tore it. I bought a computer from Worst Buy, bought a hard copy of the game off the shelf and started installing it that night. I logged in, picked a Sith Warrior, and started playing. One of the first missions was to go into the Tomb of Marka Ragnos. and I went 'Hey, I'm From House Marka Ragnos!'. Then they started talking about Naga Sadow. That was it. I was stuck. Three weeks later, I's up in the middle of the night, sending an apology email to the Dark Council for being essentially AWOL because of the game. So yeah, that game is addictive.

There are turning points, times in history where things could go one way or another depending on the actions of those involved. As we were staring down Bioware's nuclear bomb in the way of their new 'Old Republic' game, we were all knew what could be coming. MMOs are not typically great for clubs like ours. We worried, tried to get things set up to prepare for the inevitability of it's release. And here we are, a month after launch, and the DB's in-game presence is one of the largest on any server. We utterly dominate our home server. On top of that, the members aren't all in-game only. Many of them have joined in the Dark Brotherhood proper. I have heard and helped new members on Ventrilo, slogging through Shadow Academy courses in between missions in-game. I have seen members in guild-chat attack new joins and try to convince them to join their own clans and houses. The culture is Outstanding, and it shows the depth of work that Fremoc and his staff have put into the game and how we, as a Brotherhood are handling it. Even as we witness the quiet hours on IRC as our members talk like mad in-game, we still see the high level of activity, just in a different place. Considering how far wrong the launch could have gone, I am immensely happy and Proud of how Fremoc, as my Fist, has handled the situation. To that end, I hereby am compelled to recognize Fremoc with an elevation in rank to Equite IV. I appreciate all you have done, Fremoc, and I look forward to seeing how you continue on.

I just recently asked the heads of houses and clans as well as all the Dark Council members for what we call Internal Reports... basically state of the office reports. Once those are in and a few other metrics configured, I'll have a 'State of the Brotherhood' report to put out. One of those metrics will be contingent on the coming AWOL Check. These are MAA ran deals to figure out who is active and who is not. Look for an email and a news post from him and/or Dash relatively soonish.

The next vendetta is being worked on. The story is about done, the comic commissions are under way after a rewrite of the script (the original script was done before GJWX even launched, and we were changing up some visual styles and elements that I think everyone will like). Major cool points go out to Macron, who has been helping me out on this (and doing almost all of the writing himself)since inception, even as a few of the other people involved backed away due to time constraints. He even wrote the first part of this report's fiction. There was a teaser for the next vendetta at the end of the comic for GJWX. Click on the period at the end of the numbers for the pages and you can see it. The plotline for the GJW and this vendetta and through to GJWXI is a constant line. I'm pretty proud of a lot of the work that has gone into it, from Halc, from Vodo, et cetera. As far as timeframe, we're probably looking at something near the summer. We were originally thiking april, but with ToR's launch keeping many of the Clan's and Houses people occupied and the way that we commission comics (they're expensive and we need time to pay for them), a summer launch is much more realistic for a solid event.

I have two very heavy awards to announce today. Shikyo is a name that almost everyone in the Brotherhood is familiar with. His work in the Herald's office has been nothing short of outstanding. He has put forth hundreds, if not thousands of graphics for public consumption, working to make the Brotherhood a more appealing and immersive place to be. This is incredibly important work considering that we are competing with a multi-million dollar video game for member attentions. Above and beyond that, he has done a lot of this work while deployed, in the middle of the ocean on a warship. Yet, Shikyo is not an one trick pony. He has constantly and consistently come to me, seeking to do more for the club, trying to expand what we already have in more than just graphical ways. He has been a surrogate for me, and has been sent to units that need his unique wisdom and experience to grow beyond what they struggle with. When I noticed that Shikyo's dossier was pretty bare, despite his high rank, I sought immediately to make reparations in the form of an Emerald Dagger. He deserves that much, considering all that he has done for us. Taigikori is the perfect Headmaster. I'll let that sit for a moment, as it could stand on it's own as a reccomendation for the Ruby Scepter that I am giving him. He has driven the expansion of the Shadow Academy since he took the office, creating and authoring new courses and degrees. He has worked with me to get more older members interested in the SA again with things like the society and character sheet and possessions integration. He has also taken the lead and done the lion's share of the work on the Grind Path, a new methodology to set our hooks into the new members better, to try to increase member retention. He is where the rubber meets the road for many of our new members. And he has done it seamlessly. Check out their dossiers for the rest of the reccs, and give them your thanks when you see them around.

Socorra asks: In the almost three years that you have been GM, has the DB changed from what you had expected or hoped for? Where do you see it in another three+ years? Everything changes. That's the nature of anything that involves life...and we are definitely alive. Three years ago, we had virtually no gaming to speak of, the GMRG was a distant memory, clans were bloated with unnecessary positions to the point where all of the active members were in leadership posts getting burned out, and vendettas were told exclusively with long fictions that maybe a tenth of our people would read. Those are just some key things. We've also changed up the structure of the Dark Council by adding the Voice and Fist, to good effect, and did a few shuffles as regards who reports to whom. Is it all I had expected or hoped for? The perfectionist in me says 'Hell no' and points out a list of projects longer than this report that are in various phases of completion or neglect as case may be. Where do I see it in three more years? Hard to say. I akways have big plans. It's not just me...it's how much blood, sweat and tears that the rest of us are willing to put into the club. Not just the Dark Council, but the regular members as well. What would I like most to see accomplished before three years are up? I'd love to have possessions live and all the meta-games set up well before then. And to be honest, those will be such game-changers that it is hard to tell where we would evolve from there. Andrelious asks: Is dexterity overpowered in the Antei Combat Centre? Yes, horrendously so. That said, Dash and a bunch of old-time ACC badasses are working to help balance things out in that regard. Don't expect it to be the only thing that saves you. Roxas asks: When was Mandalorian armor banned in the Antei Combat Centre? A lot of ACC questions today. Anyway, the ACC is an old system, probably one of the oldest activity systems still in current rotation. At any rate, back in the day it was made, we were very much Dark Jedi Centric. We didn't have many mando fans or merc fans or anything back then... there were other clubs for those guys. At any rate, we had rules in place to prohibit the use of anything that could resist or defeat lightsaber blades. Mandalorian iron, cortosis, et cetera were all summarily banned. In fiction, it makes sense. Elders of the Brotherhood would obviously try to control any item that could negate one of our most powerful weapons. So it kinda has been an 'always' thing. Now, there are a few things available now, generally as award weapons and special awards that do defeat or resist lightsabers nowadays. Also, when possessions launches, if you get the credits to buy something, then you could use it in the ACC. That's still a few months out, however. Socorra asks Out of all of your lightsabers, which one is your favorite and why? What does it symbolize? I don't know that I have a favorite, really. I am mighty fond of them all. If i had to pick one, I probably would go for my main purple one. It's one of the older ones I have had, and it took me about a dozen attempts to get it just right.

So that's about all for this time. If I can help with anything, feel free to shoot over an email or catch me on IRC.

KE Vodo Biask Taldrya Report http://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/dbjedi/reports.php?report=14300 Vodo Biask Taldrya Korriban Horuset System Circa 5110 BBY Massassi Warriors dragged the pulped body of the once powerful Lord into the throne room, unceremoniously. Seated upon his Great Throne, Marka Ragnos observed the treasonous Sith before him. Pure of Blood, unlike himself, Lord Okemi had been nothing short of a nuisance to the true Dark Lord of the Sith. Many who crossed Lord Ragnos met brutal, anguishing deaths, a reminder to all those who would challenge his rule. Ragnos held a soft spot for Okemi. It was not large, but the time the two men had shared growing up left enough of the Dark Lord’s ferocity checked that no more blood would be shed this day. The Empire had greater things to occupy its time. “My Dread Lord, Marka Ragnos! King of Korriban, Ziost, and Dromund Kaas. Dark Lord of the Sith, Sovereign of the Realm of the Empire, the Dark Council, and all feifs, vassals, and warriors”, the powerful baritone of Ragnos’s Chamberlian announced the arrival of the prisoner, “Before you lies the condemned traitor, criminal, and enemy of the realm. What would you have us do with… It?” Marka Ragnos rose from his throne, stepped lightly upon the steps leading to the carpeted floor below, “You have accomplished much in your short life, Okemi. What good you have and may have done is out-weighed by your attempt on my life, and my throne. You are hereby exiled from the Empire. You are stripped of your rank, your title, your fiefdom, your properties, your servants, and your dignity. I proclaim you Naur’sith, Not-Sith.” Ragnos stepped upon the hand of his would-be usurper. He took great pleasure in the sensation of the man’s bones splintering beneath his foot, “You will be transported to a backwater planet where you will be free to live out the remainder of your short life in contemplation of my mercy and my fury. You may select 100 persons to accompany you into exile. Lord Vitiate will bear you and your company aboard his personal vessel.” Okemi pulled his broken hand back in toward his core as Ragnos released it. He pulled himself to his knees so that he sat, his back hunched, head hanging against his chest, as he cradled his sword hand. Fury flashed across his face with the mention of his also-rival, Vitiate. The young man had literally sprung from no-where, arising through force of his talents in the schools of Dark Magic and Sorcery. Sensing his scorn, Vitiate smiled. The man’s jet black eyes revealed none of the inner fire that drove him to act, revealing none of the man’s brutality, duplicity, or the tactical genius that would latter mark him as one of the Empire’s greatest. Marka Ragnos replaced himself upon the throne, settling into the stone emplacement with an air of comfort that none present mistook as anything less than a display of true power. Unafraid of those that would challenge him, unaffected by the recent turmoil stirred up by the broken Sith kneeling before him, “Lord Vitiate: I will leave the Naur’sith’s final destination up to you. I wish to never see, hear or think of this fool again.” Vitiate bowed and strode from the hall. ------------- Aboard the Tempest Terminus-class Destroyer Outbound from Korriban System Okemi glared at his fist, gnarled and broken. Marka Ragnos’s foot had pulverized the tender flesh, fresh from the torture pits. So many emotions circled around in his conscious thoughts that for once the Sith Lord was unable to focus. Rage; his carefully laid plans had been undone by the treachery of a single bought-out lieutenant. Confusion; how had he failed, he’d never failed. Fear; was he truly to live out his life in isolation upon an alien planet for the rest of his time? Anger; Vitiate, that frekking worm and his charcoaled-eyes. As the Dark Lord reigned in his emotions, focusing on the power and strength lent to him through the Dark Side of the Force, he watched as the knotted, twisted mass of barely healed flesh and bone began to rearrange itself. The cracking of bone could be easily heard throughout the small cabin along with the odd, sickening slithering noise of skin and sinew and tendon moving back into place. It was excruciatingly painful, but a lifetime of sacrifice caused the pureblood Sith to never bat an eye. Within minutes, the hand was as it had been for much of his life. Cool to the touch, powerful and vice-like, and fully functional. It wasn’t so much healing as it was commanding his flesh to do as he bid. He backed away from his intense concentration as he sensed the approach of a powerful man. True enough moments later Okemi’s eternal rival and means of exile appeared through the previously locked entry, “Impressive. Most impressive.” The man’s black eyes reflected the Sith’s image, lending itself to Okemi’s belief that the younger Sith Lord had immersed himself in the thought of destroying all his plans, “This?” Okemi held up his fully healed hand, “Unfortunately, it is a technique I alone command, and I will take it with me into exile.” Vitiate strode forward and confidently seated himself in one of the luxurious couches present in the small cabin, “Still, laid low before all the Empire, you still spit in the face of your betters. You truly are a beast and a vile creature.” “You didn’t come here to compliment me…” “You’re correct. I came here to gloat. To stroke what little ego I allow others to see. To be honest, I’m displeased with what I see.” “I apologize that my head does not sit upon your mantle; I do know how much it meant to you. Have you selected my…”, Okemi sought an appropriate term only to be interrupted by the man across from him. “—Grave? Not as of yet. We’ve narrowed the possibilities down to a single system, as of yet unnamed. There are several planets capable of supporting life, but none too comfortable.” Okemi sought to penetrate the Sith Lord’s thoughts, but instead found his own mind laid open and bare like a simple manuscript. Vitiate tore through his mind with such ease it astounded the nearly century-old Sith. Lord Vitiate’s trespass was not gentle however. Every memory, every thought he touched became twisted. He ravaged the mind of Okemi, tearing knowledge and secrets from the confines of his mind as though his hands were alight with fire and they ripe for the picking. By the time Vitiate finished, Okemi was upon his knees, clutching his skull in agonizing pain. Small streaks of blood ran from the corner of his eyes as the man released him and strode to the door, “Very clever. Not many would have the strength of will to command the flesh of their body in such a way. I will find this very useful.” ------------- ABY 35 Citadel Ruins Dromund Kaas Dromund System The planet was eternally drenched in a gloomy miasma. The Battlemaster picked his steps carefully, unsure which dark, wet patch of vegetation was solid ground and which would lead his next step into the swamp. The planet itself was covered by the swamp, lending to it the rancid stank of rotting fauna. He attempted to reach out into the Force, but was unable to discern anything of worth. Such was the danger so close to a Nexus of the Dark Side. Gradually, the swamp gave way to more solid ground. With it, so did many of the larger trees and plants. The gentle puff was all the warning the native Dart Flower gave before releasing a swarm of needle-sharp poisonous darts. Even so, the Battlemaster deflected the cloud and crushed the offending flower. As he approached the center of the ruins, which were once the seat of the resurgent Ancient Sith Empire, the man stopped. “I was concerned you wouldn’t make it.” “You need not worry about me, My Lord.” A cloaked figure emerged from a shadow, seemingly melting from it as though he were taking corporal form, “Such is your worth to me. Tell me, what news have you?” “The Grandmaster consolidates his base of power. The Clans have returned to hibernation and believe they are once again safe.” “Very good. And the VOICE?” The Battlemaster smiled, and looked around him, “Tell me more of this place”. The shrouded figure paced forward without speaking until he was beside his thrall, “This was once a great citadel. In my meditations, I’ve seen glimpses of what once made this planet great. An Emperor of the Sith, his name is lost to me, once ruled much of the Galaxy from here. Palpatine is said to have been the first Sith to rule the entire galaxy, but even on his greatest day, his empire paled in comparison. The commands of the Emperor, made here on this spot, resonate even today. Your Brotherhood, I believe, is connected to the history of this place.” “Fascinating. What happened?” The shrouded figure was again silent. He chose his words with care, “The same thing that happens to all who believe themselves invincible. Go, return to the Brotherhood. Do my bidding and you shall be rewarded.”
And now for a tremendously late report! As you may have deduced, I'm going to start including characters an situations that relate to the lore and background of SWTOR into our fiction. The Brotherhood isn't just a creation of the post-Imperial era, its roots stretch back all the way to the Old Sith Empire itself. The Great King Okemi was exiled to Antei for failing in his treachery, and rather than succumb to his punishment, he rose above it and created a lasting empire of his own. Newer members, or those whose interests are piqued by this sort of thing should jump over to the Wiki and start reading. I'm sure Ben will love the attention.
We had some great submissions for the MTs of December! I was surprised to see so much representation of the DC, but I chalk that up to the fact that our all-wise, all-knowing GM has decreed that Dark Councilors should be just as active as the members they serve! Gain 1st - Robert Sadow (CNS) 2nd - Eiko (DC) 3rd - Shikyo (DC) Loss 1st - Rasilvenaira (HSP) 2nd - Shikyo (DC) This month's MTs have already begun. Again, those events are: Three Man RO - Small strike teams have been assembled for a singular purpose. You have been given an assignment and must carry out its directive. Assemble a group of three for a Run-On and turn in your team by the 16th. Run-Ons will run for a month and will be judged on Continuity, Entertainment, and Complexity. First Level Crescents to winning group. Starts Jan. 16 Choices - There are those moments when you are presented with life altering choices. To kill or not to kill. To succumb to passion or not. To turn your back on the light or night. Write a fiction, no shorter than 900 words, describing a pivotal moment in past, present or future. Third Level Crescents to be awarded Starts Jan. 13
As a reminder, I am focusing my efforts on driving Character Development. Keep this in mind in your submissions. Entries that display a growth in your character (whether inter-personally, emotionally, mentally, physically, or spiritually) will score higher than those entries that do not. This is the same with the ROs that I will be judging. Also remember that when you submit an entry to me, or any other leader for that matter, that there are certain things you must do. Remember to clearly state the name of the competition in the title of the entry. Please include your name in the document and in the document name (if not just your pin in the file name). Remember to CC all your relevant leaders. These are all all measures that will ensure your entry is not discarded by the grader or lost. ~His Excellency, the Voice of the Brotherhood Vodo Biask Taldrya
